Dido’s Lament, in Taiwan.
So this is what it feels like
To fall in love
The whole world dims
They become the sun
Stars outshine city lights
Memories fill your days and nights
A smile makes you melt
A kiss makes you glow
The mysteries of alchemy
Take front row
What is it about you
That has me on chokehold?
Eyes like black holes
Your pupils are my world
They breathe life into my lungs
Limp my bones with awe
Time didn’t exist
When it hit me like an asteroid:
‘I am not just exchanging flesh
I am making love’
And it’s all the more intense
Because it’s the first
Because it’s fleeting
And bound to end
Laws and money
Will douse this fire
Dido laments
Light a pyre
You fled on a ship
Fuelled by desire
While I was building a telescope
That could blaze a fire
You flicked your flames
And cooled into a dwarf
I hug you like the atmosphere
When we laugh in my thoughts
My chest constricts in your void
I sought your oxygen; you left me destroyed
Gave birth to undying moments
My vacuum is loud when you are not
It feels like déjà vu
I wrote this line before I had a clue
I always experience things in reverse
Such is my life in this universe
But at least I have this present now
Better than never
Better than none.
